I’ll Never Run Again!

It’s marathon season for a few of my friends. 24 years have passed since I ran one. Never again!! Friends continue to do this though, and Mark, especially, deserves everyone’s support. You can sponsor him here. Anything you can spare would be very much appreciated for a well deserved charity.

SOS, the clock read loud and clear
As I crossed the finish line in fear
Of the pain and strain that I had endured
To complete a marathon, my feat secured

The marathon distance I had covered
In five hours and five minutes discovered
Was a feat that took all my might
And left me drained, without a fight

“I’ll never do it again,” I proclaimed
And kept that promise feeling no shame
But friends still run, with hearts so bold
Their courage, commitment, a sight to behold

They push through pain, sweat, and tears
Conquering each mile without fears
Their determination, worth its weight in gold
Their spirit and stamina, never sold

I may not run marathons anymore
But my admiration for them, I adore
Their willpower and fortitude to run
Through life’s obstacles, they’ve won

So here’s to my friends, who run with pride
Their endurance and passion, never to hide
And here’s to me, who knows their worth
In the marathon of life, I’ve shown my own strength and mirth.
